How should I calculate the correct size BodenWärme heating kit?

First work out the area of the whole floor space by multiplying the length of the floor by the width. You should then subtract any fixed furniture from the area with a clearance of less than 50mm above the floor. This will eradicate the risk of causing hot spots in your room. When you have a total area minus the deductions, you should deduct a further 10% from your total as this will allow for the spacing between cables and around the perimeter of the room.

Installation

  • BodenWärme's heat mats are particularly suited to standard-shaped rooms and large areas. To install, simply roll out your mat and cut the rapid-fit sticky mesh backing and turn back in the opposite direction as needed.

Please note:

  • Heating mats cannot be shortened or have excess cut off at the end; once cut, they are non-returnable.
  • A single thermostat controls up to 16m² of 200W/m² BodenWärme heating mats. For larger areas, divide into zones with multiple thermostats.
  • All electrical connections must be handled by a certified electrician per Part P regulations. And the system must be protected by a 30mA RCD.
  • Ensure the total current does not exceed the circuit's capacity. A standard 13A domestic ring circuit can supply power via a single 13A fused spur.
