How should I calculate the correct size BodenWärme heating kit?

The BodenWärme Undertile Heating mats can not be cut down to size and any mats that have been cut are unable to be returned. To calculate the right size you need to find out the total area of floor space by multiplying the width by the length, then deduct the space of any fixed furniture with a clearance of less than 50mm above the floor, reducing the chance of hot spots. Once you have your total area minus the furniture without 50mm clearance, deduct a further 10% to allow for the spacing between the mats and the perimeter of the room.

Please note:

As with all electrical projects governed by Part P regulations, all mains electrical connections must be undertaken by a certified electrician. The heating must be protected by a 30mA RCD, this can be situated within the consumer unit, or via a dedicated fused spur, you should also ensure that the total current of your heating system does not exceed the current capacity of the circuit it is connected to. Standard domestic ring circuits are rated at 13A and an electrical feed can be taken via a single 13A fused spur.
